The Cockpit
Just your average, general news...- Mar. 22, 2002 - 5:44 p.m.- So my active noise reduction headsets from BOSE arrived about two days ago. And boy are they rad! They really do 'filter' out lots of excess noise. I've been using them especially on the bus, they are so noisy. If the dryer is on at home, and I can't even hear it! When I'm outside cavorting around downtown, the noise of traffic is more like a muffling. They're great! So someone at work sorely embarressed me today. I went down to the Pizza Hut express here at the museum for lunch. I saw that the line was huge- lots of school kids. Greaaaaat. So it turned out I was going to have vending machine food for lunch. All I had were two $5 bills, so I went back upstairs to the store to get singles. I went back down there, and found to my dismay that the machines wanted exact change....which they never do. Ooookay. So I see two people I know in another dept. in line for the restaurant. So I go up to them and ask to trade for dimes & nickels. As they are fishing for change, one of them remarks(she is a very blunt, uninhibited person): "So I hear you're in love with Cory!" She says this very loud, so the people all around in line hear it. At this point, I begin to blush. Then, the clincher: "Did he give you that hickie on your neck?" (really loudly...now I am turning red). I exclaimed in suprise, and said no. "It's just a birthmark!" On my neck, is a red birthmark, that, well, resembles a hickie. I was quite embaressed. So, the other coworker caught me later and apologized on her behalf. Sheesh, what a bold thing for her to do! So, as I have been typing this, my boss was still here, even though the day is through, and said our VP approved a pay raise for me....but I already recieved it a few months ago. Well, okay. Andy'll figure it out Monday. My fellow coworkers and I went Laser Tag-ing a few nights ago. It was fun! We had dinner before hand, and Cory, who I like very much @ work (mentioned here in an earlier post, too), didn't come. He knew of our plans, but I guess....he just couldn't make it. Oh well... So, the laser tag went well. In the second round, I got as high 2nd place, which I was quite suprised by. Then I finished out at 5th. Not so bad. Afterwards, we headed to Krispy Kremes! Yummmm....doughnuts. All I could stomach was one, though. That's about all anyone needs. So it all went well, just wish Cory could've shown up.
